Hi,
This is a rather basic question but I am not sure how to interpret what ROMS does.
I am using a cuasi-2D configuration, periodic in the alongshore direction, and I am prescribing an alongshore current to simulate some kind of advection..So are there any gradients in my tracer variables that can induce alognshore advection or all the horizontal advection (as saved e.g. from TS_diagnostics) would be across-shore?
ps: note I´m using an old version of ROMS where the DIAGNOSTICS terms are not expanded into ξ- and η-directions.
Thanks in advance!

Re: advection in periodic domain
Hi Virivarola,
Can you explain how you prescribed an alongshore current with periodic boundaries? I'm trying to do something similar.
Thanks,
