ROMS restart with floats

#1 Unread post by mmurakami »

Hi, first time poster here. Trying to run ROMS with floats from a restart. Before the restart, I run with ~40000 floats. I tried restarting with FRREC=-1, but the floats output gets un-weildingly large. Instead, I'm running with FRREC = 0 and adding ~7000 floats from the end of the previous run with FRREC = 0, Ft0 = 0.0d0 and Fdt = 0.0d0 (0 tsteps from the restart). When I do this, I get some floats output with _FillValue (i.e. 1.0E+37), then it crashes with I/O errors. Running without floats lets the restart work fine. I've read the other posts on floats, but didn't really find what I was looking for. Is this some issue with DSTART and the release of the floats? Thoughts?
