Is there the oil module in ROMS?

There is not currently an oil module in ROMS, at least not the branches I know of.

An option is to export the surface velocities into GNOME (and also surface winds from WRF, for example). There are some examples in Youtube.

There is some file exporting to do, including the coastline, but is not too hard.

You should consider also the AMIGO software (both free from NOAA) to study time changes in oil composition.

Hi Karina,

Last year we developed an oil module within the LTRANS model code (see forum posts relating to LTRANS), called OILTRANS.
The LTRANS code is an off-line particle tracking module, using archived ROMS hydrodynamics, originally developed for larval transport.
A paper describing the development and application of OILTRANS was published in Marine Pollution Bulletin:
