Welcome to the Community Sediment Modeling Project (CSTM)

The goal of this project is to produce an open-source model that couples hydrodynamics (circulation and waves), sediment transport, and morphodynamics. The model will be suitable for realistic and useful simulations of processes that influence sediment transport in the coastal ocean, including estuaries, nearshore regions, and the continental shelf over regional length scales (10’s of meters to 100’s of kilometers) and time scales ranging from transport events to decades. We are initially focusing on building this capability around the ROMS hydrodynamic modeling system, but will working toward modularizing the system components via the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF).

NOPP Project

Getting Started

• Subversion: download, modify, and update the source code. There is no alternate FTP or HTTP access to tar.gz or zip files.
• Trac: browse the source code, report bugs, ask questions and suggest improvements.
• ​WebDAV: share documents in a community web folder.

Announcements

• January 11, 2007 - Plenary NOPP Meeting. Tutorial on Subversion and Trac. We will be using Trac to manage the project science and Subversion to manage the code.

• December 18, 2006 - Plenary NOPP Meeting. John Warner gave an overview of ROMS_SED. Topic mentioned during kick-off meeting and announced in Chris's email of December 8, 2005.

• December 5, 2006 - Plenary NOPP Meeting. This meeting was a general kickoff meeting.
