v139 v140 1 1 = Welcome to the Community Sediment-Transport Modeling System Project (CSTMS) = 2 2 3 The goal of this project is to produce an open-source model that couples hydrodynamics (circulation and waves), sediment transport, and morphodynamics. The model will be suitable for realistic and useful simulations of processes that influence sediment transport in the coastal ocean, including estuaries, nearshore regions, and the continental shelf over regional length scales (10’s of meters to 100’s of kilometers) and time scales ranging from transport events to decades. We are initially focusing on building this capability around the ROMS hydrodynamic modeling system, but will work toward modularizing the system components via the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF).3 The goal of this project has been to produce an open-source model that couples hydrodynamics (circulation and waves), sediment transport, and morphodynamics. The model is suitable for realistic and useful simulations of processes that influence sediment transport in the coastal ocean, including estuaries, nearshore regions, and the continental shelf over regional length scales (10’s of meters to 100’s of kilometers) and time scales ranging from transport events to years. We built this capability around the ROMS hydrodynamic modeling system, and completed some work toward modularizing the system components via the Earth System Modeling Framework (ESMF). The portion of this project that was funded by the National Oceanographic Partnership Project (NOPP) ended in September 2009. However, the ROMS/TOM group, led by Hernan Arango at Rutgers University, and the USGS (led by John Warner in Woods Hole) will continue to maintain and improve the ROMS code. 4 4 5 5 == Is This the Right Place? == … … 35 35 * [wiki:WebDavHelp Share documents in a community web folder using WebDAV] 36 36 37 == Upcoming Events ==38 * Annual CSTMS Project Meeting, Woods Hole, 2-5 December 2008 [mailto:csherwood@usgs.gov Chris Sherwood]39 * Agenda and Schedule (coming soon) [[BR]]40 * [https://www.myroms.org/dav/cstm/meetings/2008-12-05_Woods_Hole_Meeting/Hotels_revised.pdf Hotels][[BR]]41 * [https://www.myroms.org/dav/cstm/meetings/2008-12-05_Woods_Hole_Meeting/Logan_directions.pdf Directions from Boston (BOS Logan Intl Airport)][[BR]]42 * [https://www.myroms.org/dav/cstm/meetings/2008-12-05_Woods_Hole_Meeting/TFGreen_directions.pdf Directions from Providence (PVD TF Green Airport)][[BR]]43 * Public transportation from both Logan International Airport and TF Green is available from [http://www.peterpanbus.com/tickets/schedules-and-fares.php Peter Pan Bus Lines].
