A strong SSS restoring

#1 Unread post by hseo »

Dear all, I have already made a control simulation without salinity correction or relaxation in Bay of Bengal. Understandably, SSS bias is very large in summer. So I wanted to make additional run with some sort of salinity restoring (I mean very strong restoring) to see if ocean salinity does play a role in summer monsoon.
I noticed SCORRECTOIN and SRELAXATION options in set_vbc.F and I learned that I could use either of these for salinity relaxation, but is there any way just to specify observed SSS to the model as a way of the strongest relaxation? An alternative method would be to increase the Tnudg in set_vbc.F, but I still saw a narrow band of large SSS bias along the coast (4-5) when I multiply 1440*Tnudg (1 hr nudging, my original Tnudg is 60).
Any idea or suggestion would be very helpful!!!
Thanks.
Hyodae
