spin up time of ROMS for the typhoon event?

#1 Unread post by HONGWANG »

hello, every one!

I have some questions about the spin up time of ROMS for the typhoon event. The duration of a typhoon is usually 2-5 days. We investigate the coupled air-sea model to simulate the ocean response to the tyhpoon. For example, the atmospheric model may take at least 12-36 hours in the spin up process. But what is it for ROMS?

What's more, when we want to add an unbalanced signal in the SST in the ROMS (i.e., 2 ℃-increasement in the SST), how long does the ROMS take to get a balance state?

Is there anyone who can provide guidance and experience? I would greatly appreciate receiving your reply and suggestions.

Thank you very much!!

Hong
