Post-Doc Opportunity – Oregon State Univ.

#1 Unread post by gwilson »

My research group at the Oregon State University’s College of Earth Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar to conduct research on coastal ocean modeling and data assimilation. The postdoc will be part of the Cormorant Oceanography Project (www.osudashcams.com), a collaborative effort to collect oceanographic observations from small sensors attached to cormorants (diving coastal seabirds), and assimilate the data into coastal ocean models. Data are currently being collected at multiple field sites worldwide. The Postdoctoral Scholar will be responsible for running regional models for coastal ocean currents and waves, and developing code to assimilate data with ensemble-based methods. Experience with one or more coastal ocean models (e.g. ROMS, COAWST, FVCOM, GETM, SWAN, WW3) is required. Experience with data assimilation and ocean data analysis is preferred but not required.

Applications will be considered until the position is filled. A complete application will be a single PDF document containing:
• Statement of interest describing how your qualifications and experience have prepared you for this postdoctoral position (1-2 pages)
• Curriculum Vitae
• Names and contact information of three references

For questions or to submit an application, e-mail Greg Wilson wilsongr@oregonstate.edu
