Scholarship slots for MC+DC and DC - Osaka University, Japan

Our new international program of Maritime and Urban Engineering has been accepted by Japan's education ministry. We have four scholarship slots for MC+DC and four slots for DC, respectively.

For international applicants who want to study and conduct research in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Architectural Engineering, please search and contact a full or associate professor in Division of Global Architecture, Osaka University.

Water Engineering Laboratory of Department of Civil Engineering is looking for applicants who have
- experience in Fortran or C/C++ programing (for MC and DC) and use of an ocean, estuary, hydrology or biology (water quality) model (for DC candidates) with Matlab or Python,
- high GPA,
- have completed or will hold a master degree or equivalent (for DC) in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Hydrology, Earth Science or a closely related field, and
- good knowledge of spoken and written English.
Students in the lab are using ROMS, SCHISM, or SUNTANS to mainly analyze nutrient and hypoxia dynamics, impacts of human life and/or climate change on environment in coastal seas, rivers, or lakes. Some use 4DVar and EnKF in international collaboration work.

The benefits of the scholarship are as follows.
- 147,000 Japanese yen per month
- Travel expenses (a round-trip airline ticket) to and from Japan
- Tuition fees exempted

The application deadline is 24th Dec, 2019 (by post) for the matriculation on 1st Oct, 2020 (not negotiable).

- certificate of graduation or completion,
- Score certificate of English proficiency (if your higher education was not provided in English),
