chlorophyll in fasham.h

#1 Unread post by nbanas »

hi,
could someone explain what the chlorophyll calculation in fasham.h is doing in biological terms? Are there papers to cite that calculate chlorophyll from phytoplankton nitrogen in the same way?

Also, am I right in my inference that the chlorophyll calculation doesn't feed back into the phytoplankton N evolution--so that if I wanted to convert N to chl in some other way (say, by using an empirical chl:N regression) I wouldn't have to modify any code, just ignore ROMS' chl and calculate my own in postprocessing?

thanks,
neil
