hurricane driven oceanic response

#1 Unread post by xqzhang »

I am trying to use ROMS to look at hurricane driven response.
I define an analytic gaussian wind field that moves at a constant
speed across the domain. i am not hoever getting the correct
sea surface elevation associated with reduced atmospheric pressure
in the middle of the storm. I have printed out values of pair
to confirm that i have a pressure minimum in the middle of the storm
with the coreect value, but dont think that the model is being forced
with this pressure. in a simulation with a moving pressure field only
i get no response (no wind case). i have ana_pair.h defined in the .h
file. is there some other flag that needs to be set to get the model
to respond to this pressure field? Thanks!

This has been asked here before. Search on SLP_GRAD if this link doesn't work:

It is not part of the standard ROMS code, but this change should work for 3-D simulations using the recommended form of the pressure gradient.
