#1 Unread post by arango »

2009 ROMS/TOMS Asia-Pacific Workshop
Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS), Sydney, Australia, March 30-April 3, 2009

The registration deadline has been extended to February 6, 2009. The abstracts for oral presentations and posters deadline has been extended to February 27, 2009. We will be very strict with these dates because it leaves us little time to formulate the agenda and make the programs. To register, please log into the ROMS website and fill out the workshop  registration form. This information can be updated often so you do not need to wait until you have your abstract to register. If you are not already a ROMS user please fill out this  form to become a ROMS user.

We are planning two different 1/2 day training sessions. The first will be Monday, March 30 and will be a beginner's introduction to ROMS. The second will be on Friday, April 3 and will be about the sediment transport capabilities of ROMS. The main ROMS workshop will be Tuesday, March 31 - Thursday, April 2.

Right after the workshop on Wednesday evening, we are planning to have a reception dinner aboard a cruise ship that will take us on a harbor tour. More details on the reception will be posted soon. On Thursday we plan to end the workshop after lunch and have the rest of the day free for group activities. Available activities include:  scuba diving, a visit to the world famous  Tronga zoo, hiking, surf lessons at Manly beach, or a visit to the  Oceanworld aquarium also at Manly.

There is a lot of information on the  workshop webpage and new information is posted there often so please check back regularly.

Looking forward to see you in Sydney,

Organizing Committee,

John Wilkin, IMCS, Rutgers University
Christopher R Sherwood, USGS, WHOI
