about the forcing data and boundary condition

#1 Unread post by wrh »

hi everyone! I am a newer to roms ,now I am making the forcing file by using NCEP every 6 hours data and by using soda every month mean data to form my boundary forcing condition.but when runing the model ,each model time step need forcing data ,so do i need to specify each time step forcing data or just as the NCEP or soda has provided every 6 hours or every month's data, then the model itself will cyclical use the same forcing data in each 6 hours or month??

Hello!

Yes, the model needs the forcing information every time step, but you shouldn't take care of it - the time interpolation is a part of the calculation procedure. All you need is to synchronize time variables in your initial, boundary and forcing files and to write in correct values of it corresponding to your 6-hour and monthly records.
