Assistant/Associate Professor, Oceanography
Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences
Rutgers University
The Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences at Rutgers is seeking one or more interdisciplinary oceanographers to join the existing forty faculty who span biological, chemical, geological, and physical oceanography. This is a state-funded, tenure-track academic-year position carrying full faculty benefits. Salary level will be commensurate with prior experience. Preference will be given to candidates at the Assistant Professor level.
Candidates shall have a Ph.D. and a demonstrated research record in one of the following three areas of oceanography and/or geosciences: Biological oceanographers with expertise in marine ecosystem dynamics or population biology. Chemical oceanographers using novel and forward-thinking approaches and analytical techniques to study biogeochemical cycles in the present and past ocean. Physical oceanographers with expertise in estuarine or continental shelf physical processes, sediment transport, or advanced data assimilation.
We are particularly interested in scientists who can work across one or more of these disciplines and interact broadly with existing faculty. Applicants will be expected to develop and conduct a strong, externally funded research program in areas relevant to these interests, to advise graduate students, and to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in areas of their expertise in oceanography. A list of current research groups and projects can be found at http://marine.rutgers.edu. Rutgers is an equal opportunity employer.
To apply: Please send a curriculum vita, a statement of research and teaching interests, and the names of three references by July 1, 2007 to:
