grid cells drying up

#1 Unread post by DTokarev »

Hi All,
My model is a small shallow reservoir with large depth fluctuations (about 50% of depth). Part of reservoir becomes dry.
What happend when the grid cells become dry?
Thanks in advance.

It depends on what version of the code you have. Most ROMS versions blow up when h becames zero. The Woods Hole USGS group has a wetting/drying option in their code - it sounds like you need this.

Thank you, Kate.

I use ROMS 2.2 version. Is the The Woods Hole USGS group's code an another code or it is version of the ROMS code?
Which version of the ROMS have the drying/wetting options?

Thanks in advance.

We have a developmental version of ROMS that includes many new capbilites, including wetting/drying. This version is being tested by several other research groups. I am working closely to get our version in compliance with the Rutgers version, and this will be distributed as ROMS 2.3 on the Rutgers site. This new version will be released .... (real soon) ...
