OTPS tides for ROMS

#1 Unread post by qianfangcui »

I am a beginner on onceanography and ocean modeling.
I found tides forcing can be got using OTPS.ncl on the website http://people.arsc.edu/~kate/NCL/, but there were three files I don't know what they were.

1.ints = fbinrecread("DATA/h_tpxo7.0", 0, -1, "integer")
2.depth1d = fbinrecread("DATA/grid_tpxo7.0", 2, (/ m*n /), "float")
3.uv_complex = fbinrecread("DATA/u_tpxo7.0", i, (/ m*n, 4/), "float")

What are "h_tpxo7.0", "grid_tpxo7.0", and "DATA/u_tpxo7.0"? How to get them?

Hi Qianfang,
Please refer to this:
https://www.myroms.org/wiki/index.php/Tidal_Forcing
for more information.

In fact, if you download the data that contains the Harmonic Constants and the software from OTIS, you will find those files and know how to generate the tidal forcing.

happy modelling
