Re: options for calculating wind stress from wind speed
'the Large and Yeager, 2009 variant of bulk fluxes' is provided in roms? I just find BULK_FLUXES and NL_BULK_FLUXES [Fairall et al, 1996] are provided in roms. It's in my branch of ROMS, which is full of all sorts of bizarre things. Search on "roms github kshedstrom" and you should find i...

Re: options for calculating wind stress from wind speed
Thanks detraceyb. I will read this paper to find a method.

Re: options for calculating wind stress from wind speed
Thanks very much, kate. I agree with you about preprocessing the wind. But now I am not sure how to extrapolate properly. You are asking a second question, though. The trunk ROMS supports the Fairall et al. bulk fluxes. Some people don't like them, though, so we have brought in a Large and Yeager, 2...

options for calculating wind stress from wind speed
Hi everyone, I found the wind stress near the coast was sometimes weird and model would blow up at some points next to the land, so I download the wind speed and calculated the wind stress. The wind speed I downloaded is at 10 m. Recently, I am confused about the calculation from wind speed to wind ...

temperature was overestimated with 'bulk_flux'
Hi all, I tried two cases, one with 'define bulk_flux', the other one without bulk_flux. All the atmospheric forcing are from ECMWF-ERA-interim. Simulated salinity of two cases are similar. The simulated surface temperature without 'bulk_flux' is similar with SST of JPL data. But the simulated tempe...

Re: blow up when using high frequency windstress forcing
Thank you kate. The blowing-up point is at the river estuary and is just next to the land points. Vertical resolution is [-1 -0.95 -0.9 -0.85 -0.8 -0.75 -0.7 -0.65 -0.6 -0.55 -0.5 -0.45 -0.4 -0.35 -0.3 -0.25 -0.2 -0.15 -0.1 -0.05 0]. The critical depth of the model is 5m. The depth(h) of the blowing...

blow up when using high frequency windstress forcing
Hi everyone, I run a case with daily wind-stress forcing for three years. It works well. But when I use the 4 times daily(every 6 hours) wind-stress forcing, it blows up after eight months. The last step before blow-up seems normal. The wind-stress also seems normal. I don't know how to solve the pr...
