Re: Can't read observation file in 4DVAR

Hi It looks like you are trying to use an assimilation window from 2016/01/01 12:00h to 2016/01/31 12:00h and the model is only trying to read the observations at 2016/01/16 00h. It is a very large window to perform assimilation. I think you should evaluate the dynamics in your region and apply a re...

Re: typo in ad_get_data

I've just noticed the same typo also occurs in tl_get_data.F (line 232)

typo in ad_get_data

Hi, Just to report a typo in ad_get_data.F. There is a missing space on line 234. # if !defined ANA_PAIR && \ (defined ATM_PRESS || defined BULK_FLUXES || \ defined ECOSIM) # if !(defined FRC_COUPLING || definedFORWARD_FLUXES) ! !--------------------------------------------------------------...

Re: blow-up in first time step, using glorys and ERA5

No idea what your problem is, but maybe it is a good idea to check in the log file how the initial values are being read.. If they are reasonable or not.

And I'm not sure if it will affect your results but you did not close the southern boundary for temp and salt as you did for the other variables.

AKv and AKt in initial condition file

Hi everyone, I've just download the new code (svn 1077) and I've been failing to run a 4dvar application if it's not starting from a previous 4dvar output file. It seems now AKv and AKt are needed in the initial condition file. This is okay when using dai.nc or a time instant from the previous assim...

Re: ocean_time in AVG files

Using NTSAVG = 1 the times are correct for all files.

There are some slight differences using NTSAVG = 1 and NTSAVG > 1 in the harmonics file, but as they are not significant I will use it as is.

Thanks for the help, Wilkin

Re: ocean_time in AVG files

Thank you for your answer. I looked at the logfile and DEF_AVG is called before time step 12 and the average is written just after that (with empty values because NTSAVG is 2880): TIME-STEP YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.ss KINETIC_ENRG POTEN_ENRG TOTAL_ENRG NET_VOLUME C => (i,j,k) Cu Cv Cw Max Speed 0 2018-01...

ocean_time in AVG files

Hi I'm trying to use AVERAGES and AVERAGES_DETIDE (svn 1005) but I found a problem in my output avg file. The model runs fine and the history and average files are written correctly, except for the ocean_time vector on the avg files. I'm using: NTIMES == 105120 DT == 300.0d0 NRREC == 0 LDEFOUT == T ...

Re: Adjoint model blow up

Not sure if it will help with your problem but I suggest you to try increase the number of inner loops and to decrease the horizontal decorrelation length scales.
The STD values for ubar and vbar also look strange. You should check them.

Re: open boundary for future projection of CMIP6 downscaling

Are you using an initial condition also extracted from CMIP? If you are not using, you will have a abnormal gradient in zeta due to the different reference levels.
